The CAD M179 pairs a vintage-style 1.1" gold-sputtered capsule with modern electronics. Its dual-pattern capsule is based on the original Equitek E-300 design—an externally biased, gold-sputtered diaphragm—and combined with transformerless circuitry it provides multiple pickup patterns, fast transient response, and very low self-noise. That combination makes the M179 a flexible large-diaphragm condenser suitable for vocals, voice-over, and a wide variety of acoustic and amplified instruments.
Sonically, the M179 produces a clean, open sound. The microphone includes a shockmount to reduce mechanical vibration and a built-in pop filter to minimize breath and plosive artifacts. The polar pattern is continuously variable, allowing you to select any position from omnidirectional through cardioid to figure-8 (including subcardioid and hypercardioid). A -20 dB pad helps prevent distortion on loud sources, and a 100 Hz high-pass filter tames low-frequency buildup. The mic uses an XLR connection and requires 24–52 V phantom power.

Turn it counterclockwise to move smoothly from cardioid → hypercardioid → figure‑8. This gives flexible control for most recording or live setups.
-20 dB Pad Switch A -20 dB pad increases headroom and lets the mic handle up to 143 dB SPL—useful for loud sources like drums or amplified instruments.
High-Pass Filter A switchable high-pass filter cuts below 100 Hz to remove rumble and low noise. An internal stainless steel pop/EMI filter reduces plosives and electromagnetic interference.
Being a true condenser microphone, the M179 can run on phantom power between 24 and 52 VDC.
